Self Study Program 557 – The Arteon

VAG SSP 557. The Arteon – a five-seater grand tourer. The Arteon was developed using the modular transverse matrix (MQB) as a design basis. The transverse mounted engine at the front creats space between the axles and thus allow a long wheelbase with short overhangs.

This provides more space and flexibility creating a sporty five-door car that is suitable for everyday use. The result is more legroom in the passenger compartment and a luggage compartment volume of 563 to 1,557 litres under the large rear lid.

Six highly efficient turbocharged engines, including the new 1.5-l 110-kW TSI EVO engine with variable cylinder shut-off, provide a wide range of outputs and fulfil the current strict emission standards.

The new gesture control system in the “Discover Pro” Infotainment system, which has a glass-covered 9.2-inch display, lets you change radio stations by moving your hand.

Some driver assist systems are working increasingly closer with the GPS and road data from the navigation system and the front camera. Predictive control systems for speed and the dynamic cornering lights are the result, for example.

Thanks to an aerodynamic silhouette, frameless door windows and a striking rear end design, the Arteon combines the design elements of a traditional sports car with the elegant flowing rear section of a coupé.
