After the successful introduction of the 1.9-ltr. 4-cylinder TDI engine with pump-nozzle injection system for Skoda Fabia, Skoda Octavia and Skoda Superb, the trend of an economic, low emission and at the same time powerful, direct injection turbo diesel engine in Skoda Fabia continues with the 3-cylinder TDI engine.
Through the removal of a cylinder the engine is lighter, it has fewer moveable masses and a lower friction than a 4-cylinder engine. It has a high performance potential for this class of vehicle despite its low displacement.
