In 2000, the second generation of the Volvo V70 wagon, based on the S60 sedan, debuted. The model also had an “off-road” version of the Volvo V70 XC with increased ground clearance, different suspension settings and a body kit of unpainted plastic. In 2002, the company renamed this version Volvo XC70.
