VAG SSP 644. This self study programme describes the design and functioning of the Audi A4 (type 8W). The A4 family and its predecessor the Audi 80 have been technological innovators and true winners for many decades. The brand with the four rings already set new standards for lightweight construction, performance and agility with the first Audi 80 in the year 1972.

The brand’s longstanding bestsellers have always played a major role at Audi. The new Audi A4 saloon and the new Audi A4 Avant (type 8W) feature numerous high-end technologies which set higher benchmarks for their class. They combine elegant design with an innovative operating concept, systematic lightweight construction and new, efficient drivetrain solutions. The Audi A4 saloon and Audi A4 Avant are also ahead of their peers in terms of infotainment and assistance systems. As a result, Audi drivers can look forward to a truly high-tech experience ― an innovative synthesis of technology and aesthetics.

When it comes to aerodynamics, the two new models dramatically outpace the competition. The Audi A4 saloon has a drag coefficient of 0.23, while the Avant achieves 0.26. The rear design plays a pivotal role in terms of aerodynamics. On the new Audi A4 saloon, the lines of the rear hatch ensure that the air flow is smooth.

On the Audi A4 Avant, a roof edge spoiler with a strong downward slant performs this function. When it comes to interior dimensions, the new Audi A4 saloon and the Audi A4 Avant surpass their predecessors in almost every respect. All seats offer a feeling of
genuine spaciousness. The interior design underscores this impression, as its clear architecture is strictly focused on horizontal lines.

With the anatomically shaped front seats, the head restraints can be adjusted not only for height, but also for distance from the head. At market launch in Europe, the Audi A4 saoloon and the A4 saloon will be available with a choice of three TFSI and four TDI engines. All engines comply with the Euro 6 emission limits, so that the TDI has been labeled a clean diesel.

Manual gearboxes, S tronic and tiptronic, front-wheel drive and quattro drive – there are various solutions for power transmission in the new A4 models Tailored technology is available for each engine.
