Self Study Program 36 – Skoda Fabia 1.9L ATD TDI Unit injection Bosch EDC 15P

VAG SSP 36. In cooperation with Robert Bosch AG, Volkswagen has succeeded for the first time in developing a diesel engine with a solenoid valve-controlled unit injection system which is used in passenger cars. This engine satisfies the demands in respect of high power output while at the same time having a minimal impact on the environment. It is a step toward the future of diesel exhaust gases which are both free of smoke and odours. This new engine generation will also be increasingly used in SKODA models.

The demands made on modern diesel engines in respect of power output, fuel consumption, exhaust and noise emissions, are becoming increasingly greater. Good mixture formation is an essential element of satisfying these demands. To accomplish this, engines need efficient fuel injection systems, which  produce high injection pressures for an extremely fine fuel atomisation, and precisely control the commencement of injection and the quantity of fuel injected.

A method which satisfies these high demands, is the unit injection system.
