VAG SSP 309. The 6-speed automatic gearbox from the Japanese manufacturer AISIN is used in the following Volkswagen vehicles:

The gearbox is adapted to the different engine types and vehicles as follows:

• the number of disc pairs for clutches and brakes,
• adjustment of the ATF pressure applied to the clutches and brakes,
• the configuration of the gear pairs, planetary gear sets (e.g. 4 instead of 3 planetary gears), shafts and bearings,
• reinforcement of housing parts,
• the ratio of the axle drive and the intermediate drives,
• the size of the torque converter,
• the converter torque increase curve (conversion factor or converter amplification),
• the selector lever and
• the ignition key withdrawal lock.

The self-study programme shows the design and function of new developments. The contents will not be updated. For current testing, adjustment and repair instructions refer to the relevant service literature.
