Buick Fault Codes

The OBD error codes are one of the ways that your car communicates with the mechanic. Every car built since 1996 has a computer OBD system that monitors and identifies problems. In particular, he considers problems that can lead to harmful and polluting emissions from exhaust gases. When this system identifies the problem, it turns on the check indicator and records the OBD code.

Access to OBD codes is carried out by connecting the code reader to the OBD port of the vehicle. These codes provide the mechanic with information about the system and the conditions under which the problem was first identified. However, they can not provide a clear solution to the actual cause of the problem – just hints for where to look. To find out more about what your car is trying to tell you, select your code below.

Diagnostic codes of computer systems “General Motors” (Chevrolet, Pontiac, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Saturn)

The onboard computer of cars produced by the corporation “General Motors” is included in the self-diagnosis mode by closing one of the contacts of its diagnostic

connector on the body of the machine.

The diagnostic connector is located under the instrument panel (usually above the brake and gas brakes) and is closed with a plastic cover labeled DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTOR.

Dconnect A diagnostic computer can be connected to this connector, which is equipped with all the major maintenance stations.

Turn the ignition off. Close a small piece of wire (the material for a small paper clip suits well) diagnostic terminal “B” with terminal “A” (terminal “A” is always connected to the body of the machine). Turn the ignition on. You have transferred the computer to the fault code display mode.

In this mode, the SERVICE ENGINE SOON warning lamp starts with three times the code “12” – “activation – pause 2 seconds – on – pause 0.5 seconds – on, after a long pause, the sequence of the twelfth code will be repeated two more times. The twelfth code indicates that the computer self-diagnosis system is working.

After the code “12” the computer will issue trouble codes, repeating every three times. For example, the code “22” will look like this:

“activation – pause 0.5 seconds – turn on (it’s twenty) – pause 2 seconds – turn on – pause 0.5 seconds – turn on (it’s two)”.

Then, after a long pause, the code “12” will be issued again and the process will be repeated until the ignition is turned on.

Here are some fault codes used by General Motors:

13 – open circuit of the oxygen sensor;

14 – short circuit in the motor temperature sensor circuit;

15 – open in the chain of the engine temperature sensor;

21 – malfunction of a chain or the gauge of a throttle

22 – malfunction of a chain or the gauge of a throttle

24 – a malfunction of a chain or the gauge of speed of movement of the car;

33 – open circuit or malfunction of the intake manifold pressure sensor (or sensor vacuum line);

34 – malfunction of a chain or the gauge of pressure of air in an inlet collector;

42 – malfunctions in the electronic ignition system;

43 – malfunction of a chain or the gauge of a detonation of the engine;

44 – exhaust system oxygen sensor shows depleted mixture;

45 – the exhaust system oxygen sensor shows the re-enriched mixture;

51 – malfunction of the computer program chip;

52 – malfunction of the computer program chip;

54 – malfunction of a chain of a gasoline pump;

55 – malfunction of the on-board computer.

The most common faults in injection engine systems are undoubtedly the consequences of using substandard gasoline. Ethylated gasolines, as well as gasolines containing impurities of oils, alcohols, water or other impurities not provided for gasoline, lead to a deterioration in the spraying capacity of injectors and other problems of fuel equipment. Malfunction codes “44″ and “45” appear most often as a consequence of problems in the fuel system.

Code B0051

Refer to the correct procedure for removing and installing all installed SRS components.

When a deployable device or combination of devices and / or airbag management module (ACM / RCM) is deployed in DTC B0051 in memory, the repair of the SRS of the vehicle must include the removal of all deployed devices and the installation of new deployable devices, the removal and installation of new impact sensors and removing and installing the new ACM / RCM. After repair, DTCs must be cleared of all necessary modules.

Vehicles with a passenger positioning system (OCS)

Inspect the entire vehicle for damage, including the following:

  • The steering column (deployable column, if any)
  • Knee supports and fixing points of the instrument panel
  • Staples and brackets for the instrument panel
  • Instrument panel and fixing points
  • Seats and seat attachment points
  • Safety belts, seat belts and seat belts.
  • SRS wiring, wiring harnesses and connectors

How to fix error code B3857?

Usually this is a mistake for the driving lights. The computer detected an error in the wiring harness for the headlights. You can check all connections and grounds to make sure that everything is connected correctly and is receiving power, but if this does not work, you will need a diagnostic scanner connected to monitor the responses of this circuit.
